MY MOTHER'S LOYAL COMPANION

Angel welcoming me at the door

Every time I come home from Sitiawan, Angel would be at the door to welcome me.  She came into our lives in September 2000.  Actually, my nephew's friend gave him one of the puppies from the litter that her dog gave birth to.  When we got her, she was only about two or three weeks' old and so Jeremy got his grandma to look after his puppy since it was agreed that he wouldn't be able to take care of such a small animal.  Initially, he wanted to name her Charlie after the character from Charlie's Angels but when I told him that the puppy was a female, we decided to call her Angel instead.
I guess Jeremy never bargained on his grandma and Yee Yee growing too fond of the dog to give it back to him.  And that was how Angel became my mum's and my pet.  She is like my mum's shadow following her around the house.  When she is watching telly, she sits at her mistress' feet.  Even when my mum goes to the loo or bathroom, Angel would stand guard outside.  So when I am not in Ipoh, Angel will keep my mum company and protect her as she would start barking when she feels something is amiss and so my mum will be alerted.  Besides, having a dog running around the house is good Feng Shui as it generates a lot of Yang Qi.
