BLOSSOMING WITH FLOWERS AND FRUITS

At the start of a new year, the Chinese would fill their homes with traditional plants bearing flowers and fruits. Besides serving as decorations, the fruits and flowers convey a rich and symbolic message.
I bought the decorative chilli plant for my mum at the market. The chillis growing on the plant change colours from the time it starts bearing fruit. If I am not mistaken, it changes colours from white, yellow, orange, purple and then red. My mum was delighted with the present I gave to her. I am told that is is always auspicious to have a plant with fruits as it symbolises that our endeavours would bear fruit. I guess that the bright coloured fruits would mean that life would be very colourful and cheerful.
