Here is a list of auspicious door directions for the first day of the Chinese New Year:
Try to either open a door or window in one of these directions the moment you wake up on New Year's Day.
Wealth God (Cai Xin): Southeast
Happiness God (Xi Xin): Northwest
Try not to open a door or window in one of the directions below (if possible)
5 Ghosts: Northeast
Death Door: Southwest
If your house has only one door and it is facing a bad direction, then one remedy taught by Jason Eng during his Feng Shui Talk is to hold a knife or cleaver in one hand before opening the door and then do the action of cutting into the air three times. This would help negate the negative energy and bad luck.
