SHAMROCK

In my previous post, I blogged about the Purple Shamrock which is also sometimes known as False Shamrock. You see the real shamrock in the above picture. To the people of Ireland and also the United Kingdom, this plant is full of symbolism.
According to legend, the shamrock (Oxalis tetraphylla) was a sacred plant to the Druids of Ireland because its leaves formed a triad, and three was a mystical number in the Celtic religion, as in many others. St. Patrick used the shamrock in the 5th century to illustrate the doctrine of the Holy Trinity as he introduced Christianity to Ireland. Today, many people around the world associate the shamrock with the Irish, especially is especially on St. Patrick's Day.
