DON'T THROW AWAY THE ONION SKINS

You can dye and egg using onion skins. See what interesting patterns you can get by wrapping the egg with onion skins and then boiling them.
I used to throw away the onion skins after I peel them but not anymore as I found that they have other uses.
  1. You can use them to dye eggs.
  2. You can also save the onion skins along with shrimp shells and vegetable scraps to be used as base for a stock. Believe me, your soup will taste better. I actually learnt about this from watching a Korean drama.

So I have told myself to start saving the onion skins from now. By the way the same applies to garlic skin as well. Both the skins add a nice brown colour and rich flavour to the stock.
