Freshly plucked calamansi
Selling herbal drinks
I introduced a different herbal drink during our weekly herbal sales day. Since a few of the students and teachers have been complaining of sore throats I decided to used the preserved calamansi to make a drink. It is believed that making a drink from the preserved calamansi or limau kesturi will help to treat sore throat.
Here in Malaysia we can easily buy the calamansi preserve. As far as I know there are about three types. One is the dry type preserved with salt. The other type is preserved with honey (or sugar plus salt). The third type is the one that I bought to make this drink. It is the calamansi concentrate which has been preserved and then either blended or pounded.
All one needs to do is to boil water, then add a few tablespoons of the calamansi preserve. When the water has boiled, you can add brown sugar (or alternatively honey). Believe me, my students snapped up this drink. They said that it tasted great.
