The Lantern Festival or Mid Autumn Festival is more than a month away but mooncakes are already sold at supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries and markets.The price for a mooncake that is sold by a restaurant or bakery is at least RM6.00 each (with simple fillings) which means a box of four would cost RM24.00. The more expensive ones with special filling and fancy boxes or casings would cost very much more.
Do you know that my mum bought a mooncake at the Night Market or Pasar Malam for RM2.20? I bought the Figurines which are made from the same ingredients for the mooncakes at 70 sen each. Maybe the fancy ones from the posh places might taste better but then the ones that my mum and I bought taste okay too.
