SAD SITUATION

Here is an article that made me very upset yesterday. According to the report there are some sons and daughters who dump their ill or mentally unstable parents at government hospitals. They send them there and not return for them. It is such a sad situation, isn't it? It made me recall a remark made by one of my friends. He said, "A mother can look after 10 children when they are young but not one of the 10 can take it upon themselves to look after her when the she is old and feeble".

The story bothered me the whole day and while I was driving back to Sitiawan from Ipoh in the evening I thought that I would do my part to bring some cheer to some senior citizens in the Pondok or Shelter run by my colleague, Ustaz Syed and his friends. Last year I fasted for 5 days during the Ramadhan month and got my friends to sponsor me. I managed to get about RM380 to buy clothes for the orphans at the Shelter. This year I will again continue with the activity but I will try and get more friends to sponsor me. I will also try and have my students have a charity Car Wash and also some food sale. All the money will be used to buy new clothes for the senior citizens and the orphans. If there is some leftover, then maybe I could arrange a small feast for them. Well, one of my friends, Zulkapli said that he would contribute RM100 for my effort. Anyone else?
