IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY.

I have been pestering my friend and colleague, Fatihah, to bring her 5-month old son to school in the afternoon after she picks him up from the babysitters. I first clapped eyes on Iman when he was just a few weeks old and he looked cute then.
Well, Fatihah finally obliged and brought little Iman to the library at around 4.30 p.m. today. I was not the only one who went gaga over the little fella. Puan Kamariah, Puan Asiah and Sharveen also wanted to carry and hug him. I think Iman has grown even cuter and more adorable.
When I kept gushing on about how cute and good looking he was, Sharveen suddenly turned to his teacher, Puan Fatihah and suggested she use three dry chillies and rub it on the baby's chest. After doing that she was to throw the chillies over Iman's shoulders. According to Sharveen this was to prevent any untoward thing from happening to the baby since everyone was saying how cute and handsome he was. In some Asian cultures, it is believed that if we say how healthy or fat a baby is then the opposite might happen to it. But do you really think that after saying the baby is chubby, it's fall ill and become skinny. Nah! I don't think it works that way. Imagine, all the babies that appear in advertisements. Thousands or more people would have watched or seen the adverts and commented how cute and healthy they look. Do you think that the said babies would turn ugly and sickly because of the words? Also, I guess all the Slimming Companies would go burst as all people need to lose weight is to have their friends or relatives say that they are so fat or healthy.
