BOYS OVER FLOWERS

What type of title is this? Boys over flowers! It is actually the Korean version of a very famous Japanese manga, Hana Yori Dango. Quite a number of years ago, the Taiwanese filmed a version of the manga and called it "Meteor Garden". It was this drama that catapulted for relatively unknown actors into fame. The four were collectively known as F4. Perhaps you might have heard of Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Vaness Wu and Ken Chu.

There is also a Japanese and a Chinese version. I wonder when Hong Kong is going to come up with the Cantonese version of the manga. There has been a lot of hype about the different versions of the manga. The one always in the news and that caught my attention is the Korean one ,which is known as Kgotboda Namja, as one of the actresses committed suicide. From what I have read, the series has been garnering a lot of attention and has made household names of the main actors.

For those who don't know the story, it is basically about an ordinary girl who by chance saved a student of the prestigious Shin Hwa University. The heroine is from a poor family but studies in this elite university. There her fate is intertwined with the school heartthrobs, known as 'F4' or Flower 4. The story is mostly about how she starts off having a crush on one of the F4 members but ends up falling in love with the leader of the quartet.

I'll try and get my hands on the DVD of the series and see if it is worthy of the hype generated by the media. It will help me to relax during the holidays.
