Some feng shui consultants advice people to tie or tape a Chinese coin with a red ribbon or string to the telephone for good luck. They claim that by doing this, the person would get good news. Let me pose this question to you, "Do you think that by doing so, the person would keep getting good news from that particular phone?" Believe me, even if the whole phone was taped with the coin and red ribbon, the calls that they receive would be the same: some are good and some bad. If after they tied the stuff and suddenly they receive good news, then it is most probably coincidental.
