I went with my mum and Aunt May to visit the Giant Lanterns Expo at the Kuan Yin Temple in Tambun on Saturday night. The site of the Expo is behind the Tambun Inns hotel. There is a giant lantern of the Goddess Kuan Yin, the God of Wealth, the animals in the Chinese Zodiac besides other types of lanterns which are made by craftsmen in Szechuan China and shipped here.
I paid RM8.00 as entrance fees but both my golden girls did not have to pay as they are senior citizens. Anyway, I was glad to pay the money as it was to be used to build the new Kuan Yin temple. If you are in Ipoh do visit the Expo. It will be held from 21st January until 9th February, 2009. The opening hours are from 7.00 p.m. until 11.00 p.m. Believe me, the beautiful lighted lanterns are a sight to behold and at the same time you get to do charity work by donating towards the building of a temple.
