In Chinese the word for pomelo has the same sound with that for "protection," and in consequence the fruit is considered auspicious. In Malaysia pomeloes are one of the fruits that people use to give as presents to friends and relatives and also used as offerings to the Moon Goddess during the Mid-Autumn Festival. This sweet fruit has naturally become a part of the festivities
