SALWAR KAMEEZ

As a change from wearing the normal western attire and the Malay traditional garments, I decided to don a Punjabi suit to school today. Here in Malaysia, we refer to this particular type of clothing as Punjabi suit as we associate it as the traditional garment of our Punjabi friends. However, in other parts of the world, it is known as salwar kameez. It is a traditional clothing worn by both women and men in countries like India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The loose pajama-like trousers are called salvars. Kameez is the long shirt or tunic.
In the first two pictures, I have worn it with the shawl hung loose across one shoulder but my friend, Tuan Haji Hasnin, said that the shawl should be worn like as in the last picture.
