CELEBRITY POWER FOR CHARITY

Most celebrities would have a very good income, opportunity and influence. Since they have been given such privilege by the fans, it is therefore their responsibility to give back to society in the form of charity work. They are courted by many organisations to lend their celebrity to help raise awareness on issues like AIDS, Cancer and Child Abuse. Their star power have also helped raised a lot of money to help all sorts of underprivileged people.
Below are a few of the celebrities that I admire and the good work that they have done to help make the world a better place.

Vic Chou

Vic or Zai Zai is one of the Taiwanese ambassadors for UNICEF and has lent his celebrity to many charity causes and taken part in quite a number of fund raising programmes.

Jerry Yan

Jerry Yan was appointed as the first Asia Child Sponsorship Ambassador for charity organisation World Vision. He is the spokesperson for World Vision offices in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand and Taiwan, helping World Vision to promote its Child Sponsorship Programme. He has an adopted child, Baldan.

Josh Groban

Groban performed for many charity events like Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope (2005), Fifth Adopt-A-Annual Minefield concert (2005), 2nd, Live 8 (2005), The Heart Foundation Gala (2005). He established the Josh Groban Foundation to help children in need through education, healthcare and the arts.

Rain

Rain is the HIV/AIDS ambassador for World Vision Korea. He agreed to take up this challenge when he realised that HIV/AIDS has done so much damage in society. He has also done different types of charity work in Asia.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

This celebrity couple is synonymous with charity work. They have collectively donated a lot of money for different types of charities. The money they obtained from selling the rights to the first pictures of their newly born twins were donated to charity. They have gone around the world doing all sorts of good work and have lent their names for all sorts of charitable causes. A couple who is truly beautiful inside and out.

Charlie Young and Gigi Leong

Both Charlie Young and Gigi Leong have been actively involved in doing charity work for UNICEF and have gone to many parts of the world to help children who are underprivileged and in need of help. Both have been chosen as Hong Kong ambassadors for the United Nations International Children Education Fund.
