PAPER CHARMS

One unique practice of the Taoists is that they use paper charms or talismans for different purposes, for example, the charms or "fu" may be used to enhance wealth luck, to promote harmony or for protection against evil spirits. Read more about the Taoist paper charms from the article I sourced from here. Please note that I have corrected the grammar of the original article.

About Taoist Talismans

The Chinese Paper Talismans, referred to as "FU" in China are probably the most powerful enchantment tools. Each talisman's power is different, and so is the way to activate and use that power. The paper charms and incantations can be used to manifest psychic or spiritual energy. It is the intent behind that talisman that determines whether it is white or black magic. For example, it can be used to invoke gods, deities, protect a household, improve your business, attract wealth, enhance relationships, curse or hex an enemy, dispel sorcery, activate good "Chi", dissolve a bone lodged in the throat, stop bleeding, prevent burglary,etc... The paper charms are usually drawn for various purposes. Each practitioner from different lineages of Taoist schools has their own way of drawing talismans, activating talismans, rituals to perform, and their form of talismans which is usually handed down from their teacher or sifus. These may comprise of various Mantras, Mudras (hand gestures), rituals, and invocations to empower and bless these talismans. Most of these talismans are guarded secrets which are never revealed to the uninitiated as they are so sacred. And some of these Talismans and rituals are so deadly that it can cause harm, injury, insanity and even death when used upon their enemies.
