The moment I stepped into the hall, I noticed that I had attracted a lot of stares from the people present. Some of my friends from other schools kept gushing about the beauty of the batik I was wearing. They wanted to know where I bought it and how much it cost. To me this is sort of like a uniform as all the teachers and staff of my school have the same batik design. We wear the batik during official school functions. Imagine, about 100 people wearing the same batik design at one time. The colour is also exactly the same. Most of the ladies have the batik made into baju kurung and a handful into the kebaya like I am wearing.
What I am trying to say is that oftentimes, we do not really see the beauty of things that are around us as they appear common to us. It takes others to open our eyes. Similarly, it is with people. Next time, look at those near you with a different perpective and I am sure you will appreciate them more.
