It took me about half an hour to boil the water caltrop aka ling kok. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the Chinese eat specific food items to bring health, luck, and fortune.
Water Caltrops aka Ling Kok in Cantonese are favoured for their resemblance to a bat. The word bat in Chinese has a "fu" (Mandarin) or "fook" (Cantonese) sound in it, which is similar to the sound of the word for luck.
