MEMORIES OF MY FIRST KOLAM

My first Kolam was taught to me by my student Sharveen way back in 2008.  I had an exhibition on Deepavali at that time and he volunteered to come up with a Kolam.  

I learned the basics from him, like using chalk to draw the design and then the technique of putting the coloured rice.  He was the one who coloured the rice.  It took him about a week to get the coloured rice ready.  Nowadays, there is ready made coloured rice that can be easily bought from the shops.
