Cashew nuts
Chinese silver ingot
When my mother was alive, she would always buy cashew nuts to add to the mixed vegetable dish that she'd cook for our Reunion Dinner. I thought that it was an ingredient to enhance the taste of the food but actually cashew nuts are considered as symbols of good luck.
Cashew nut (腰果, yāoguǒ) symbolises gold, money. The shape of the nut bears resemblance to the gold or silver ingot of ancient China. LINK
