BEAN SPROUTS = POSITIVE START

I hail from a place that is famous for her bean sprouts. It seems that they are crispier and sweeter in Ipoh. Chinese bean sprouts (豆芽; dòu yá) literally mean "bean sprout/germ" 芽菜; yá cài, literally "sprout vegetable" or 银芽; yín yá, literally "silver sprouts"). These names are all auspicious. So having bean sprouts for the new year would symbolise 'to your heart's content' and a positive start into the new year.
