During the 3 day celebrations of Kuan Yin's birthday, the temple will serve vegetarian food to those who visit the temple to pray to the Goddess. The ingredients for the food are sponsored by well-wishes and so it is free for all those who come.
As for the service, there are volunteers to wash, cut and cook the food. Then there is another group who does the serving and clearing up. There are even ushers. This is an annual activity and all the volunteers are not paid a single sen. They do this to serve the Goddess.
Here you can see the volunteers doing the washing up.
Mind you, there are volunteers as young as the toddler here. He is starting very young. Good for him. He is learning to be a helpful and charitable person.
