When I was at the market yesterday morning, I saw a lot of red dyed eggs being sold at the market. This was the first time for me. Usually people would dye the eggs on their own for birthdays. So I asked my regular newspaper vendor. She told me that the eggs were bought by Taoists as offerings to the Taoist Deity Tei Chu Kung(the Five Officials of the Home) in celebration of the birthday of one of the officials. Altogether there will be five birthday celebrations as there are 5 of them.
