PLANTS TO USHER IN THE NEW YEAR

Plants, flowers and fruits have great significance Feng Shui. A well-placed plant can change the family fortune and bring harmony to your life.To the Chinese,certain plants that are deemed auspicious are used as symbolic decoration items during the Lunar New Year season.
The plants featured below are are supposed to bring good luck and prosperity, they are often symbolised by the literal or phonetic meaning of the plants' names or by the vibrant colours of the flowers.
The button ginger plant.  The red button like flowers are deemed auspicious by the Chinese.
This plant with red, pink or yellow flowers is also a CNY favourite.  I can't remember the name at the moment.

Crassula (the jade plant)
Chrysanthemum is known as the prosperity flower. In Cantonese it is Kok Fa.
Cherry chilli (Solanum pseudocapsicum) used as an ornamental Feng Shui plant during the lunar new year.


Lucky Bamboo
Guzmania or Huang Li Fa (Pineapple flower)
This plant is known as Chu Loong Yup Sui in Cantonese, meaning water entering into the pig cage.  Again denotes wealth coming in.  Its English name is pitcher plant.
