MORNING GLORY

Waking up to see that there were four flowers blooming on my morning glory plant put a smile on my face.  Now this is what I call one of  my little pleasures in life.
For your information, the morning glory that I have in my garden is actually one of over 1,000 species of flowering plants in the family Convolvulaceae.  Morning glory is the common name for them.
So why is this plant called morning glory? This is because most morning glory flowers unravel into full bloom in the early morning. The flowers usually start to fade a few hours before the "petals" start showing visible curling. They prefer full solar exposure throughout the day, and mesic soils. Some morning glories, such as Ipomoea muricata, are night-blooming flowers.
