CHECKING OUT CHINESE NEW YEAR FLOWERS

It is about two weeks to the lunar new year and I can see many housewives buying auspicious flowers to decorate their homes.  Me?  I bought lucky bamboos as they can last a long time and are easy to maintain.  As usual I went to the Kampung Simee market to check out the new year flowers sold by Brother Lek.
You can see me holding the Azalea plant in the picture above.
In Chinese the Azalea is called Ying Shan Hung which translates to mean  a glowing mountain of red.
You can also find red and peach azaleas on sale as well

Me with a pot of Kalanchoe.  In Chinese it is called Moon Tei Hoong (red covering the ground).
The lucky bamboo or fu gwai shu.  The onese here are the curly type.  Red coloured decorations are added to the bamboos which are tied in threes, fives and sevens.
