In my humble opinion, most Chinese are very Kiasu (afraid to lose). That is why when it comes to Feng Shui you will see the believers putting up lots of activators for good luck and also protection.
One such activator of good luck and protection is the coin with the zodiac sign of ones birth year. By carrying the coin, one can improve luck, enhance wealth, good fortune, cure bad energy, strengthen certain positive energies and even divert sickness.
The Taoists use auspicious coins and protective amulets extensively in many feng shui cures and practices. It is a belief that having a coin minted in our year of birth will give us good luck and protection. Similarly possessing a coin with ones personal zodiac sign will also have the same effect.
