The word 'selfie' was unanimously chosen as word of the year by the publishers of the Oxford English Dictionary, beating out “twerk” and a host of other Internet and social-media-related terms.
Even President Barrack Obama was caught in the act of taking a selfie. In the above picture Denmark's Prime Minister Helle Thorning Schmidt appeared to hold out her smartphone for a three-way selfie at a service honouring Nelson Mandela on 11th December 2013 in Johannesburg. Obama, who sat to her left, and British Prime Minister David Cameron, who sat to her right, leaned in close for the snap.
