The picture showing a nose growing from the head of a man appeared in the newspapers a few days ago. No it did not grow naturally but was grown by doctors.
It seems that this man Xiaolian here, needed to replace his original nose. His nose became deformed due to a bad infection that corroded the cartilage. Doctors grew a new nose by adding a skin tissue expander to his forehead. Then they cut the tissue into the shape of a nose and stuck some cartilage taken from the ribs up in there. And there you have a new nose.
The surgeons report that the new nose is just about ready for the transplant surgery.Hopefully they will publish an update on the surgery and show pictures of the after procedure.
