MANGO LEAVES USED AS DEEPAVALI DECORATION

Yesterday I went with Asiah to get mango leaves to be used as Deepavali decoration.  As there were two such trees near the guard house, we went there as it was nearer to the library.  There are many other mango trees around the college campus.

After we got the leaves, I enlisted the help of Kasturi,, one of the janitors, to show us how to use mango leaves as Diwali decoration.
Actually there is no need for any pins,  just need to turn the sharp part of the leave inwards and poke it into the leaf.
Here you see Asiah cutting the leaves for Kasturi to use for out decoration.
You can see the string of mango leaves that have already been hung up. To the Hindus, mango leaves are a symbol of new life and rejuvenation. These strings are tied at the top of the entrance doors of the houses. It is said that tying these mango leaves strings in the morning would bring them blessings and prosperity.
The three of us hard at work with our decoration.
During recess time, the students came to look at the Deepavali Rangoli that we had created.
