KWAI LING KO

The jelly like dessert above is known as Kwai Ling Ko or Tortoise Jelly.  It is called thus as this jelly is made from the powdered bottom shell of a turtle.  However, I am told that nowadays it is made more from herbs and not the shell powder.  A friend who is a good cook gave it to me.  Hers was really delicious as she used some added herbs to make it.
For those who don't know, Kwai Ling Ko is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine which helps detoxify the stored poisons in human bodies. Researches have proven the turtle shell extract will detoxify body, greatly enhance skin healing power, clear acne, ease hot flush and is an all around great herbal dessert.
