1) The shape of the living room should ideally be square or rectangle so that the flow of Qi is smooth.

2) If the shape of the living room is triangular then there would be sharp corners and hence there would be “stuck Qi” in the corner (/\) then the people living in this house would not be prosperous. The fengshui solution for this is to make the sharp corner “disappear”.

3) The living room should also be bright and if it is “dim” then switch on the light even during the day time. A bright living room means that the future and health is bright.

4) The corner that is diagonally opposite the house main door is known as a “secondary wealth area”.

5) Some living rooms do not have a corner hence that means that Qi do not stay in this house and therefore money goes away.

6) It is good to close all bedroom doors to create a corner that is diagonally opposite the house main door to create a corner. During Chinese New Year, it is best to place a “Chye Sen Yeh” poster in this corner for Good Luck.

7) To activate the “secondary wealth area” for good fortune is to either place a tall 3 ft potted plant there or an auspicious object like a laughing Buddha or a big, golden ingot full of coins.

8) A 2ft tall “God of Wealth” bronze stature placed in the “secondary wealth area” is actually the best.

9) The colour of the sofa set, wall colour and curtain colours should match the owners’ favourable colours. Try not to use bright yellow colour as this colour can enhance sickness in the family. White or beige colours are usually preferred.

10) Try not to use red colour sofa sets as they represent the fire element and family members may tend to be easily irritated in the house causing disharmony.

11) There should be no glass cabinent doors in the living room as glass are reflective and is like a mirror.

12) There should be no mirrors in the living room because these can reflect wealth or health away.

13) Medicine should never be kept in the living room area as these can grow. Hence family members would tend to fall sick again and again.

14) If there is an altar in the living room then the God should never face the glass cabinent doors, mirrors , fish tanks or any glass coffee table because the image of the God would then be trapped in them and that brings about sickness.

15) If there are wall papers being used then their colours and design should match the owner’s bazi (a form of destiny reading based on a person’s birthdate and time) or the colours that the owners are lacking.

16) If the wealth area is in the living room then whatever items you placed there they will simply grow, be it shoes, books or cds.

17) Any paintings placed in the living room area should ideally follow the owners’ bazi hence sometimes it can be a forest painting, waterfall or even a fruits painting.

18) The windows in the living room should be opened at least two hours a day to allow fresh Qi to flow into the house then one can have new things happening to them.

19) A ceiling fan in the living room is fine even if it is in the wealth area of the house.

20) A standing fan can also be used in the living room and usually not recommended in the health and wealth area of the house.

21) There should be no glass coffee table being used. A wooden one or a marble one used has to match the owner’s bazi.

22) The air con fan coil unit if placed within the wealth area of the living room can actually activate wealth instead of using real, running water.

23) The televison set should be non reflective either mounted on the wall or standing on a cabinet and is usually beside the hi fi system and on the same side of the wall.

24) If there is a wall facing the main door, we usually place a bowing down laughing Buddha with his hands clasped in a welcoming position to greet the owners every time they are home.

25) The distance between this wall and the house main door should be a minmum of 5 ft anything less means work pressure for those living in the house.

26) Even number, tall 3ft potted plants usually no flowers are used and placed in the balcony. Iron plants with 5 trunks or big green leaves money plants are usually recommended.

27) A pair of chilli plants are good for couple’s relationship and are commonly recommended to be placed either outside the house or in the balcony.

28) If there is a metal door grill used after the main door ideally the design is not a fish, butterfly or flowers.
