PISANG KELAT

The banana plants that you see in the picture above is known as Pokok Pisang Kelat (Musa acuminata x balbisiana Colla (ABB Group) cv. 'Bluggoe).  This type of banana is planted for its fruit.  However, my reason for planting it was for medicinal purposes.  I got this plant from a Malay midwife who told me that the leaf of this plant is one of the ingredients used as herbal bath for ladies in confinement.  Mind you this is the only type of banana plant which we can use the leaves for this purpose.
These two bunches of bananas were from the latest harvest.
