REDECORATION

 The Recreation Area
 The Reading Area
The new themed exhibition of Cartoons & Anime

For the past couple of weeks, my library assistant and I have been clearing, cleaning and redecorating the library.  All this beautification work is for the 5S Programme.
5S is the name of a workplace organization method that uses a list of five Japanese words: seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu, and shitsuke.   Translated into English, they all start with the letter "S": sorting, set in order, systematic cleaning, standardizing, and sustaining. The list describes how to organize a work space for efficiency and effectiveness by identifying and storing the items used, maintaining the area and items, and sustaining the new order.  LINK
As the college was awarded 5S certification last year, we have to have it certified again this year.  We did quite a lot of sorting and cleaning already.  Last week we started on the standardising.  We changed the colours of some of the skirting to yellow, cream and orange for standardization purposes.
