CHINESE NEW YEAR GIFTS

My former student, Baron Syafiq, paid me a surprise visit yesterday.  He came bearing Chinese New Year gifts from his grandmother.  It was indeed sweet of his grandma, Kak Bee Bee, to think of me during this festive season.  She even took the time to cook seafood spaghetti for me.
Unfortunately I could not reciprocate by giving her some gifts in return as I am considered to be still in mourning.  For the Taoists, those whose parents passed away for less than a year, they do not celebrate on a grand scale.  They are not supposed to give ang pows, gifts or even decorate their houses.
