When I am boiling soup I would usually leave the lid slightly open so as not to let it boil over. Unfortunately, I find that the lid sometimes closes on its own and I end up having to wipe the soup that has spilled on to my cooker. Really messy!
Recently, I saw this kitchen gadget called Lid Sid. It is a small silicone figure which hangs over the edge of a pot, propping its lid open to let out some excess heat and steam while food is simmering. Wonder which shop in Sitiawan have them in stock?

easy way out, put a pair of chopstick across the pot, and let the cover rest on it. the gadget looks rubbery/pvc, not advisable.
