WET WET PROCESSION

Today is the 7th day of the 9th lunar month which means I am into the seventh day of my vegetarian fast.  During the 9 Emperor Gods Festival I try as much as I can to go to the temple to pray as we Taoists believe that by honouring these deities they will bless us by prolonging our lives, eliminating calamities, and absolving our sins and past debts and that of our family members. All throughout the 9 day festival, a carnival-like atmosphere pervades the temple.  It is believed that there will be rain throughout the nine days of celebration. How true it is this year as the waters from heaven has been pouring down even this evening when there was a planned procession at the Ayer Tawar Tow Boh Keong Temple.
Though it rained heavily, the procession still managed to draw scores of devotees.  During the procession, the spirits of the Nine Emperor Gods were believed posses the spirit mediums, putting them in a trance.
