SCAVENGING FOR RECYLABLES

I have seen the recyclables hunter or scavenger going through the rubbish bin outside my house a couple of times before.  The third encounter with her was at the basement car park of Sitiawan TESCO.  I saw her going through the rubbish bin to look for plastic bottles and aluminium cans.
The lady appears to be in her sixties and it is indeed a pity that she has to go around scavenging for things to recycle at her age. Is she doing this to supplement the income of her family?  Or is this her main source of income?  It seems rather sad to me.

These are people who knw true meaning of recycling. They help keep environment neat and also earn their keeps. 1 kg of aluminium cans fetch around RM3+.

I think they recycle because they need the money to survive.
