WATER CALTROP

Today is the 15th day of the 8th lunar month which means the Chinese celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival.  When my mum was alive, she'd perform special prayers at home and then we'd go out and have a meal at a restaurant.  But my mum is no longer here and so I am not too sure how I will be celebrating this year.
Perhaps, I'll go and buy some Water Caltrop (Bull's Horn) or Ling Kok from the market and enjoy this special festive food today.  I make it a point to eat Ling Kok and small Yam during this festival. The thick black shell of Ling Kok has to be hammered to be broken open. Once cracked, it reveals a creamy white nut inside.
