DRUMSTICK PODS

One of the cleaners in the college gave me some murrungai or drumstick pods which she plucked from a tree outside her house.  The Indians love to use the pods to cook curry. The immature green pods called “Murunga Kaai” are usually cooked like how one cooks green beans and have a slight asparagus taste. The seeds are sometimes removed from more mature pods and eaten like peas or roasted like nuts.  By the way, the pods are helpful in increasing breast milk in the breastfeeding months.
