ALARM SYSTEM TO PREVENT BURGLARY

Each time I switch on the telly or open a newspaper, I find that there has been reports of thefts and burglaries.  Besides, I have also heard my friends, colleagues and neighbours telling about a burglary that has happened in their neighbourhood.  It is indeed scary and as a result, I am seriously considering whether to install an alarm system for my home.
I saw a reasonably priced Alarm System for RM1580 at Ipoh Tesco recently.  The salesperson told me that the offer price was for a single storey terraced house.
What do you think?  Should I get myself a unit?
