The space ship looking snack above is known as cucur jawa. It is also referred to as kuih penyaram and is made from a mixture of rice flour, wheat flour, sugar and gula melaka. I read in one blog that this kuih is served when there is a death in Malay households. The shape of the kuih which is like that of a hat is supposed to send the deceased to the other world. Don't know how true it is but then I guess it is just hearsay only.
