My mother's tortoises and dog were tied with a white ribbon each as a sign of mourning for their deceased owner. During the two days when my mum's remains was placed at home, I was advised by my friends and also the undertakers to tie a white ribbon on her pets to mourn for her.
When my dad died, we did not do that and two of his dogs died. One followed him when he died and the other died after he was cremated. A day before he passed away, a whole tank of fish died.
This time around I made sure that the tortoises and Angel had a white ribbon each.
