MOTHER-IN-LAW'S TONGUE

The plant pictured above goes by the name, "Mother-in-law's tongue" (Sansevieria trifasciata).  It is also known as Snake Plant.  I remember the name of this plant as it was told to me by my father, an avid gardener.  He said that since the leaves of the plant were long and sharp, they resembled the sharp tongue of a mother-in-law.
If you are thinking of looking for a house plant, then do give it a try as a study by NASA found that it is one of the best plants for improving indoor air quality by passively absorbing toxins such as nitrogen oxides and formaldehyde.  LINK
