I always make sure not to buy any shoes during the 15 days of the Chinese New Year. I always buy mine before the new year. This year I bought the two pairs of shoes pictured above. Yeah! I bought them in two colours. Some Chinese consider buying a pair of new shoes during Chinese New Year as bad luck. The word "shoe" in Cantonese is a homophone for "rough" or "evil". It also sounds like a sigh which is another taboo during Chinese New Year.
