A TOWN CALLED LUMUT

Lumut in the Malay Language (Bahasa Malaysia) means moss, lichen, or seaweed. How did the town get to be called Lumut? Well, a long, long time ago, the beach here was rich of moss, so the locals named it Lumut. Besides being the take-off point to Pangkor Island and other beautiful offshore islands, Lumut is also the home base of the Royal Malaysian Navy. This quaint little town is also famous for its beautiful seashells and coral handicrafts.
