I saw this statue of Cai Xin (Taoist God of Wealth) at the Jade Emperor Shrine in Tambun when I went there to pray last week. I think that the statue would undergo a blessing ceremony before being installed at the shrine. Mind you such a statue is not cheap. It may cost at least RM10,000 as statues of Taoist deities are made in China and shipped here by cargo.
UPDATE
I was told that this particular Taoist deity is known as po-tiao-peh in Hokkien. However, this deity is also referred to as Cai Shen or the Wealth God of the Nether Side. Actually, there are quite a number of Wealth Gods for the Taoists and this is one of them. The Chinese characters on the hat reads "One world prosper after seeing this deity".
