SITTING FOR EXAMINATION IN SCHOOL FIELD

A picture of  the students in my school sitting for their  Trial Examination in the school hall
Here in Malaysia, the Form 5 students will start sitting for the SPM examination tomorrow morning.  They will be sitting for the Malay Language Papers 1 and 2. Like the rest of their peers, the Form 5 students in my school will also be sitting for their examination in the school hall with teachers from other schools acting as invigilators.
I was rather surprised to read a news article about a school in China whereby the students are made to sit for their examination in the school field to prevent cheating.  Wow!  Don't tell me that there is a great tendency for the students in that school to cheat for the school authorities to come up with such a drastic measure.  It is just not possible to have an exam in the field here in Malaysia as it is the rainy season.  Even if it does not rain, the weather might get too hot and students might end up with sunstroke.

Here is the article:

Cheat proof: School holds exams in field

Students sitting for exams in the field.  Determined school heads have cracked down on exam cheats in Wuhan, in central China, by making their pupils sit their tests in the field.

Officials at Sihuang Middle School in Hubei province say they had been plagued by organised cheating rings until they started holding the exams outdoors.

And to make sure no-one even tries, teachers sit on high ground above the playground watching the youngsters for any suspicious moves."

"In the playground there is more room and no pupil can stretch out and reach another pupil's desk or whisper an answer to a friend".
