DISCIPLINE INSTILLED BY MR CHEAH

I woke up with a terrible headache yesterday morning and was afraid that I might not be well enough to attend the Staff Development Course at the Orient Star Resort in Lumut but I was determined to go.  I guess I owe my doggedness and determination about not missing school or work to my late father.  When I was in primary school, he'd make sure I go to school if I was well enough.  If I had a little ache here and there, he'd still make me go to school. He said that I'd be missing out on some lessons or some duty that I was supposed to carry out.  Mind you, the late Mr Cheah practised what he preached.  Throughout his 35 years of service as a teacher at S.M.J.K. (C) Sam Tet in Ipoh, he only took one day off because he was very sick.  For your information, also did not take leave to attend my graduation at teacher's training college even though I was the best academic student, neither did he attend my convocation in England when I graduated with a First Class Honours degree. He said that he did not want to miss his classes in school. I guess that type of discipline got ingrained in me and I managed to attend the course from beginning to end.
In the photo above, you can see how I looked when I reached the resort early in the morning with a nagging headache.  Thankfully I became better because of the medication I took and the massage given by the lab assistant, Latipah.  I guess it was also the conducive and calming atmosphere at the resort which made the headache go away.
