During my walk around my neighbourhood in Ipoh, I saw this house that had broken pieces of glass embedded into the pillars flanking the main gate. I guess the house owner did this to deter intruders and burglars from entering. However, this is not good Feng Shui at all.

People, especially the Chinese who live on landed properties such as terrace houses or bungalows often put some form of "harmful objects" that emit bad negative chi to ward off intruders. One example of harmful objects is broken bits of glass.
These tiny but sharp broken bits of glass may be able to play its role in deterring any intruders with ill intentions from breaking in to ones house but in feng shui, the broken pieces of glass create extremely bad energy to the surrounding. Not only is the image of these sharp protruding broken bits of glass unpleasant to ones eyes but they too are harmful to the house residents if their younger kids come up with the idea to play on top of it.
The poison arrows emitted from these sharp pieces of glass will not only hurt your neighbours or passers-by but also to the house residents. So it is best to have them removed from the wall surrounding your house to restore good feng shui to your neighbourhood as well as your family.
After all, feng shui is not about all about bringing well being to oneself at the expense of the people around us.
